weird noise from Clutch on 1st gear

Ok, I have a 2006 MCS, with 40,000 miles.

and its been making a weird noise when Im launching my car on 1st gear. (just regular driving)
The sound is there when I do cold starts, but the sound is not there when its warm.

it's been nearly two months i had this problem.

I went to the MINI dealership a month ago, (MINI dealership in Edmond, Oklahoma), but the only ting i heard from them is that they are not able to look at my car under warranty, because i had engine modifications. (pulley, intake, exhaust)
they told me that the reason why the clutch is making that noise is due to the mods causing more power etc, that changed the ratios for the clutch??
sounded like BS to me.

so i was wondering if the same thing happened to you guys here, modded or stock, and if fixed that problem, how you did it.

Thanks

My 2006 MCS JCW makes a little clattering sound from the clutch area when it's cold. That is, when I start the car, and before it warms up, if I do not push the clutch in there is a ticking/clattering sound, which stops when I do push the clutch in -- making me think it's the throwout bearing rather than the clutch itself, though I can't figure out why the sound would stop once the car is running warm. Anyone have any ideas?

Your situatuon is common. Here is a link about a Mini service bulletin reference the matter. Also if you search noisy clutch you should find a lot of comments.

Clutch Noise when cold in first gear

I have a 2004 MCS, with 33K miles. Recently noticed a noise when engaging first gear when starting cold. Goes away once the engine/clutch is warm. Any ideas

Here is the link of having the same problem https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tch-sound.html

My car was stock JCW and it has the same problem. When I'm launching the car, at cold there is weird sound. I changed the clutch and the sound comes again. After changing the flywheel and clutch the sound has gone. good luck.

My 02 never had the noise with the original clutch. I replaced clutch kit and flywheel with updated parts in 05 at 124k and 10k later the noise began just as described by the bulletin. As long as I autocross every month the noise does not come back, I havent been to an AX event for 2 months and its doing it again. I guess you just have to beat it a little to make it temporarily go away. Am I CRAZY !!!
