Remote lock/unlock won't work
hello,
I just picked up my 2009 cooper. Everything worked well initially, but 3 days into ownership both key fobs stopped unlocking/locking the doors. Using the key manually in the door works and the switch inside the car works. I tried to reactivate the keys by putting them in the ignition slot and holding the unlock button then press lock 3 times but no success. Anybody have any other ideas before I head to the dealership on Thursday? TIA. |
when one of my non-comfort access fobs stopped locking/un the doors, dealer eventually replaced the FOB
but both going bad this way seems a bit farther out. sounds like a dealer trip I'm afeared |
I am also having this problem. Hoping that there was a simple solution??

I am also having this problem as well, i have an 09 JCW and my remotes have always worked. I just left work and it worked fine, i got home and it wont work. So i went inside and got my spare and same thing, it wont work. I replaced both batteries (even though both already had fresh batteries and still nothing. I have tried to reset them and nothing still. The only thing i did while driving home was stopped at the car wash.

If both fobs stopped working the same time, I would be more inclined to think it was the rearview mirror - aka: receiver for central locking system.
|
Just had the same issue, turned out to be a bad cell in the battery.
|
You have comfort access....And the 2013 are notorious for bad car batteries right now, even while still on the lot.
At the onset, one would not diagnose this as a key fob battery issue if both fobs were to stop working exactly the same time...or the car battery especially if the car starts and runs. |
You are correct!! I changed the battery in the fob first and keyless entry still did not work. The other fob worked, then it didn't. At least it's sorted out now.
|
So it was the car battery?

check your rearview mirror. inside it is the receiver. it usually soaks in water which gets inside through the panoramic roof and leads to useless keyfobs!
