2008 MCS passenger's side auto-up window issue
It's been little over two months now, so far so good and I really like my MCS only except ticking sound from engine. Now I have another problem. The passenger's side auto-up window does not work properly since last week Wednesday so I took it over to the dealer for a quick check last Thursday.
When I open or close the door then window is going up and going down little bit automatically but it did not work so I tried tab the switch downwards and it will go all the way down. But the tab switch upwards, it will go all the way up and go down half way automatically. The service manger said it needs reinitialization for the passenger's side window and said it won't take too long. After 20 minutes later the window works fine. But one day after that problem occurs again....so I will take it to the dealer today again if it is possible for a quick check. Does any one has this similar problem? |
Not exactly the same problem, but it seems anything having to do with the windows/sunroof is wonky on my R56. Never had a problem with windows going up and halfway down, but issues with auto-up/auto down actually working - sometimes I have to hold down the button to open/close windows.
For the past week or so everything is normal, though, so I'm not sure what's going on. As for engine ticking, I get the occasional "Zen bell" sound after shutdown(almost like a single wind-chime, "ting!" like my Mini is making an offering to the car gods). I haven't thought much about it because it, like the windows, is very sporadic with when it happens and seems to be part of the quirkiness of this car. |

I think my MCS ticking sound is not like yours  but my wife's Civic does have similar sound after shutdown engine sometimes. Check another post I described it (ticking sound). https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=135898&page=2 |
I got an email from MINI service manager. They believe they have to replace the actuator so they have order the part. I will update this matter later.

As far as I know, once opened the doors auto-up/down is not working so you have to hold up/down the tab switch.

They though it's the actuator's problem, but they did not replace it because MINI tech said it's probably window motor (after 1hr investigation). So they have order window motor today......
|
I went to the dealer yesterday to replace the passenger's side window motor. It took 2 weeks to get the part from Germany (I was told the part comes from Germany) but I had no time to drop by until the day before yesterday.
And they replace the motor, I think auto-up is working properly so far. I hope it will be OK. I talked to SA with this auto-up window problem and she told me that the other day she went to test drive with customer and suddenly passenger's side window roll down automatically what a surprise...:sly: |
I have had my R56 for two weeks now and notice sort of the same issue with mine the windows auto down all the time but auto up is always hit or miss  and i wish the sunroof had a auto open/close feature

Same here
I have a little over 600 miles on my cooper, and last week, it happened to me a bunch of times. My driver's side window goes auto up, then down halfway. It takes me a few tries to get my window to shut properly. I'm scheduled to take it in.

tonyro, yeah, it may the motor problem too and I had only passenger's side window problem. Good luck!

You know...I have the same exact problem on mine Spam. I called service today and I'm going to drop it off after work. It was weird. When I open the passenger side door..the window doesn't automatically go down the normal inch...and when I roll it all the way up..it comes back down halfway. Stupid. I also had another problem that the computer was telling me the boot was opened...but not! I guess its all electrical..or even sensoring problems.
|
me too. the driver's window does that. but its only done it like twice.
|
My Driver's side window is fine. It is the Passenger windo that is having intermittent Auto-up issues. Molly is paying a visit to the dealer on Wednesday for the Amber/Exclamation icon too. I've informed my SA of the Auto-up issue, but don't know if parts have been ordered or not. I'll keep you posted.

well....my driver's side window did it again....
.....TWICE in a row. so thats 4 for me so far... |
Mine was in for the water pump/pulley noise and when I picked it up the driver window would not one touch up or down. They reinitialized it and it has been working fine since then which is more than I can say about the water pump.
The tech may have disconnected the battery while working on the car causing random resets of various systems? |
i noticed mine did that a few days ago.... this is with over 4k miles. i turned off my car and it became "ok" again
i have tints and so i fear that if there is a problem, they are gonna blame it on my tints! so not fair |
again...happened 3 times for me today.

2008 MCa
After 3 months both windows malfunctioned on the 1 inch auto up and down when opening the doors. Dealer reinitialized the windows. I will wait to see if the windows still function ok. |
Oh, both windows malfunctioned? that's no good. Mine is OK since replaced the passenger's side window motor. Good luck.
