Car Wouldn't Start

What gives? The other evening I went out to my MINI w/7,000 miles opened it w/ the fob sat down and pressed the start button. Nothing happend, no error no click, it just turned itself back off. Kinda like if you dont compress the clutch. Has this happened to anyone else, any ideas. I tried everything I could think of and it refused to start for about 5 minutes. Even more odd is it hasnt happened since.....Id forget about it, but I am affarid of getting stranded somewhere.

No everything was "normal" The only difference was in order to gain access I used the button on the key fob to open it instead of always using the door handle:confused: comfort access.
