Drivers side mirror popped off, can't get it re-attached?

Hey guys - another car bumped my wife the other day and knocked the drivers side mirror lose; it's still attached via the wiring, and there is no visible damage except that, well, it's not attached. I've tried re-attaching it but I am having no luck, there is something I am missing.

Does it need to be rotated a certain way to re-attach?

Thanks very much.

I'm assuming that you mean the glass mirror piece itself. It should simply snap on if you press firmly, with no rotation. Check for any broken attachment tabs on the circle on the backside of the mirror.

If it is the mirror de attached from the base on the door(where the allen screws are now exposed) there is a silver pressure clip with little fingers on it that has to be pressed onto the shaft part of the mirror thats goes into the base. There is a spring that goes in between that clip and the mirror that keeps it from vibrating but allows it to be folded in toward the window. You will need to remove the 2 allen screws(at least they where allen on mine) and pull the base off. You should see the parts laying inside the base. I used a deep dish socket and a hammer to lightly tap the clip back onto the shaft. It doesn't have to be real tight. If you put it on too far the mirror will be difficult to fold.

Perfect, that's exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
