My fuel pump won't shut off!!

The other day I noticed that there was a "whine" comming from somewhere in my '02 MCS (79,000 Mi). Not sure what it was so I took it up the street to a local repair/gas station. They told me it was the fuel pump and that it's continously running. My question is, what do I do to make it stop? I have been disconnecting/reconnecting the battery for the time being. Any help would be much appreciated!

The whine may not be your Fuel pump but instead your Power steering pump. No real fix I've had mine do that for 3 days straight then back to normal.. It like the relay is getting stuck.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply...so I guess my next question is...how do I get my relay to "unstick" itself?

If it where the realay ypu could just replace it (i believe it sits in the fuse box under the bonnet). However i dont think that is the problem.

Sounds Like the module located inside the Power steering pump shorted out to the power side, causing the pump to continue to run. Sounds like time for a new pump. Sorry for the bad news.

THANK YOU!!

Thanks to all of those who helped me with my MCS problem. The problem was in fact the power steering pump went bad. Replaced ($615 plus core charge) it today and she runs perfectly.

I will be sure to help others along my way if I can, only because everyone was so helpful with their suggestions! HAPPY MOTORING TO ALL!
