Maybe this post will get me into 1st Gear:
We'll be there, with MINI PEARL all giddy from her visit to Nashville. :impatient :)

My wife and I will be there, Get ready to meet the Texans :0)
|
Probably won't make it since we are returning from Indy that day-but depending on what time we get out of Indy, we may try to detour through Edwardsville.
|
I don't think I'll be able to make it. I have to get up in the middle of the night to catch a flight out of Lambert to Canada. I'm sure it will take a while to get through security:roll:

I'm not going to make it after all due to a lug nut issue that came up last night while I was performing some maintenance.
|
I can't make it either. I'll be in class trying to learn something about Adobe Illustrator.

What hapened? I had a wheel stud bolt break on me the other day. It all started when I had my tires force balanced/matched at AuToTire in Chesterfield (only independent shop in town that has the equipment necessary to do this by the way) about a month or so ago. I didn't think to check the torque on the bolts when I got it home. Anyway, Wednesday I was trying to get to the transmission fill bolt which is easier if you remove the driver's side front tire. I found that the bolts were WAY over-tightened so I was in the process of backing them out, putting some anti-seize on them, and torquing them back in at a comfortable 95 ft/lbs. One of them snapped on me before even getting close to 95. So, I bought all new bolts, drilled out and backed out the broken bolt and replaced them all. The bolt that broke was not factory BTW, it was one that came with my Flik Wasp wheels (I was disappointed with the stud bolts' quality anyway -- the wheels are great however!). Moral of the story is to check your torque settings after tire work is done, or request hand tightening to 95 ft/lbs of lugs of your service provider before someone just takes an air gun to them. |
I'll second that Adam.
MINI of STL has over-tightened mine several times. Now everytime I go in, I put a note in the car asking for the bolts to be torque'd to 95 ft/lbs. Anything more is overkill! Glad you got it fixed... Aaron |
