St. Paul's Car-B-Que - September 10th

Gang,

Hey, I am organizing a car show at my church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Des Peres, and I'm wondering if a few of you would like to sign up for it? It's from 10:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday, September 10th with a rainout date of the 17th. Entry fee is a whopping $5. It's open to all makes and models, so it might be a really interesting mix of metal!

This is the first time we've attempted anything like this, so I can't give you a ton of details; we're making this up as we go! But, we're hoping to have it become an annual event at our church.

I've got Felix entered, of course, but it would great if we could have a nice, round showing of some MCs, MCcs, MCSs, MCScs, and a classic would be nice, too. If you know of some other car nuts with rides other than MINIs that would be interested, please pass this information on to them!

It's just a church-based, non-formal, no awards, get together to be fun and enjoyable for everyone. Hopefully we'll raise some money for our youth and some mission efforts we have. Pretty laidback and hopefully we'll have good weather.

You can check out all the information and print out a registration form at the event's website: http://stpaulscarbque.org/

If you have any questions or comments about anything, my contact info is on the site and entry form. Or just stop by my driveway as I'll probably start cleaning my engine now!

Please respond to this thread if you sign-up and I'll edit this post to show the listing.

Thanks!

Participants:
string - MC
STLMINI - classic and MCc (if on this side of the pond)
MLC-Mobile - MCS and 67 'Stang
LouiefromStLou - MCc (Sunnie) and Miata (Fred the Red)
ofiolity - MCS

Adam,

I passed the info onto the president of the Miata Club. We'll see if I get any response:sly: Oh, and have you told Amanda yet about your newly claimed title:wink: Congrats:thumbsup:

I will be out of town that weekend. Nice to have seen everyone at the meeting and drinks afterward. Motor On, Dan

Hey, Adam, congrats!

Count me in too, neighbor. I drive by your church almost every day on school days!

string Aug 9, 2005 09:26 PM

Doug - you have to let us know when it's YOUR wedding day! Thanks for sending the event info along and for the congrats on the presidency! I'm sorry you can't make the Car-B-Que, but hopefully there will one next year.

Lois - thanks for passing this along to the Miata club. Yes, Amanda knows about my newly appointed position! Does that make her 'First Lady?'

Dan - sorry you can't make it to the Car-B-Que. Felix will miss his twin! It is always nice having people at the meetings and enjoying a good beer afterwards. I'm glad you could make the meeting last night!

John - I know I can always expect a honk and wave from you on Geyer! I'll send you an e-mail when I pick up your registration from the church.

Actually, everyone will get a confirmation e-mail from me after I pick up their forms from the church office. I typically pick them up once a week.

Thanks again, everyone, for your willingness to participate! Keep thinking about others that might be interested to come -- either to participate or just check it out. I really, really appreciate your efforts and it should be a fun afternoon!

Adam,

I heard back from the Miata Club's president. He sent your notice out to all the members. They are considering participating as a Club event:thumbsup: So we'll see what happens. Say hello to the First Lady for me:grin:

StLouieLo Aug 12, 2005 07:12 PM

Maybe we should leave Fred the Red at home:roll: I'd hate to be outdone by the Miatas:eek:

I'm going to see him tomorrow night. Maybe we could get a little friendly competition going between us & the Miata Club. And you all know where my allegiance is:grin:

Wish I could make it, but I will be in Houston flying the 737-800 simulator at the Continental training center. It is the MINI of airliners, very nimble and easy to fly! Dad is going with me as well. I hope you guys have a great turnout and great weather!

Okay, so I started working on the '67 Mustang this weekend, it was pretty scary. I haven't waxed that car in a really long time (? years) and forgot how much more sheet metal it has than the Mini.... and no clear coat, so you have to work so much harder just to get shine! My arm was falling off by the time I was done. Even with putting painter's tape on the black trim of the Mini, it goes much faster.

But, we did go driving (sigh, driving it was, as opposed to motoring) and I let my five-year-old ride shotgun since we were just rolling around the block, and he thought it was totally cool.... he's never been in a front seat before. Aah, pre-airbag cars! And pre power brakes, and pre power steering....

Next weekend it's back to the Mini. I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Amanda

And now the 'Stang is off to get its engine pulled tomorrow :eek2:

Maybe with the engine out I can get the compartment as clean as Adam's

string Sep 11, 2005 02:19 PM

Thanks everyone for coming out and showing! I really, really appreciate it and I hope that all of you had a good time. Thanks to you guys for coming and telling your friends -- the turnout was better than I thought it would be. I think the church is wanting this to become an annual event.

I guess my thoughts of having it in September so it wouldn't be so hot kinda backfired though!

StLouieLo Sep 11, 2005 03:03 PM

Smelled like an old lonesome polecat by the time I got home:wink:
