The first 2 weeks after I got my mini, I got 2 chips on the windshield from those rocks at 605/Irwindale. After that I started using the 57 south and a year later... there are still only 2 chips.

I had Scott Kim at Advance Auto Engineering in Alhambra install shields on my 2006 JCW Cooper S convertible a few months ago and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Scott does great work. His combination of experience, professionalism, conscientiousness, and engaging manner made this a painless experience.

I've got a full factory JCW car so he had to cover front spoiler/bumper, the first 1/3 of the hood, and both side mirrors... he did a great job... took about 4 hours (I had an appt) and he charged around $320.00 I believe. He also does window tinting.

He did a friend's Ferrari 360 and also did a perfect job.

That's is pretty cheap. What kind of film does he use? Warranty issue? I've seen clearbra start to peel off in the corner and unclean and overstretched corners.. Ill give him a call.

Some of other guys are charging 500 to 700.. I wonder why.. They claim their film is the best and claim you get what you pay for.

R & R is a certificate 3m Clear bra installer. Also recommended by 3m. The shop is in Aptos. He has done Minis and knows very well the high impact area's. They are custom not a die cut like many other shops use. The number is 831-728-4561

For the price that Scott offers with 5 year warranty.. Its no brainer to go to him. A bit far from me.. Hopefully I don't get rock chips on the way there.

Got my car back from Scott, nice friendly guy. Full front, 1/3 bonnet (end at the top of the chrome headlight ring), mirrors, lights and had him do a 6 window tint as well.

I'll post photos when she's washed, waxed and the tint is dry.

Oh, one more thing, he charges 3% for c/c purchases.

3% is the cost of doing business, that's what most credit cards and Paypal charges also. Why not just adjust the price instead of even mentioning it. That would be smart business IMHO.

To bad you should give him a call anyway. He may give you a price worth the drive. Or his pardner in the Bay Area may work something out with you?

Photos posted in my gallery of the tint and clear bra scott did. I tried getting good shots of the clear bra, but i couldn't get my p&s camera to focus properly, but I got one above the headlight ring.

If anyone has a specific area they'd like to see, i'll go try those later.
