hey cooperjai! I know that SCCA runs autoX at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, and I think that they have classes as well.

The SCCA is the sports car club or America and more information about the organization can be found at http://www.scca.org. As far as AutoX racing at Norton AFB you can do a search at google for clubs that meet there.

Poke around the SCCA site a bit and you will find all of the information that you need. You could also find more information if you so a search here at MCO or at google. You might also find some good information here.

Hope that helps.
[EDIT]...You can check here for some school happening this coming up weekend [/EDIT]

There is also Danny McKeever's Fast Lane Racing School out at Willow Springs in Landcaster/Palmdale. Great group of people. They can supply you with a Toyota Celica (they do the training for the celebrities for the Long Beach Grand Prix) or use your own MINI.

I used them a couple of times to teach the Socal Miata club's driving school. Usually 2 days are on the Streets of Willow Springs and the third day is on the big track (if you want to do all 3 days). When I did the Miata clubs events, we pretty much filled up the class so he let us decide what we wanted to learn. He offered to teach us some of the move stunts but no one was brave enough to use their car for it.

BTW, they are the people that taught the actors for the Italian Job how to drive the MINI's. The behind the sceen shots of them learning to drive is out at Willow Springs.

Sorry I don't.

I know a few years ago they were in the neighborhood of $2500 for 3 days but they are supplying you with a race prep'd Celica to use. When we did it with the Miata's it was $350 for 2 days but that was with me arranging 20+ drivers and cars to do it with. The best suggestion would be to give them a call and find out how much they would charge you if you use your own car. Or even better, work out a group rate between them and SCMM.

Maybe after I get my MINI in a month or so, I'll see what SCMM is like and maybe look into setting up a MINI driving school.

I went to Buttonwillow's driving class a few weeks ago. It was awesome! $175 for the day. Here's the link:
Buttonwillow Raceway
There were cars of every sort there, but only 1 Mini
I'll probably do the next one if I can afford it. Someone on these forums had said that driving school on a track
was the best performance mod you could do. I've got to agree. I'm driving better, faster and safer after
the one day. The most fun you can have in your car......... well almost.........
