My first trip in a Mini

Well the wife and I are heading to the Smokey's this weekend to try out the Mini on your nice scenic roads. We are staying in Maryville, if any of you have some free time post up and perhaps we can roll the twisties.

TN bound in less than 12 hrs.

Have a great time! We were down that way this past March in Neugs (our 2008 justa), we stayed in Gatlinburg,TN. The drives thru the Smokys were spectacular. We made it over to Maryville as that is where my wife's favorite cousin lives - We took Little River Road (Old State Highway 73). There is an great stretch of twisties between Townsend and Gatlinburg on that road between where 321 comes in east of Townsend and where it meets 71 just south of Gatlinburg. Myself, wife and son drove down from just south of Boston, MA. This was the 2nd long trip on our MINI and again we had a blast. Last year we drove to Daytona Beach - we love our MINI for road trips and are trying to figure out what we are going to do next spring already. Did not make it over to the dragon though as the rock slide south of Maryville still had the road closed.

Yes the rock slide has concerned me as well, but I have a few friends that live in the area and they say you can get around it but it will just take a little longer. This will be the first time down there on 4 wheels we usually head down there on our 2 wheeled couch (pic below), but this time we are trying something new. Well hope to run into some locals, figuratively of course.

We are here, and boy is it good to be back down here. If the rock slide was not an issue we would be on the Dragon as I type. So instead we will drive down to check out the slide and save our first trip across the Dragon in the Mini for tomorrow.

I think we are going to head to Franklin NC to Cafe Rel for some awesome lunch. Best place to eat on Hwy 28. If any locals what to head out post up and we can set up a meeting place.
