I'd vote No, and won't visit that part of the forum should it move forward.

Unless there is organization against outlawing british cars (or cars in general I suppose) then I see little upside to such discussions here. The whole rest of the world is available for such things.

No, I moderate on a motorcycle site, they used to have a politics section, it nearly tore the site apart and it is no longer allowed. It is a much more welcoming place now.

Been watching this thread since it opened. In all actuality, it has it's own political aroma which in the long run could well be what a few want and just enough entertainment for those that don't. The li'l guy with the popcorn box could provide just the image it needs.

The site already has an "Off Topic" forum area. I sure don't see the need to add this one, so put me down as a "no".

Been here long enough that I know the members that normally post on a given thread. When I started this thread, I mentioned to another Mod that if we got 10 members to respond I would be happy but hoped it got some good discussions going. Having almost 2000 views with five pages of posts, I for one greatly appreciate all of you that took the time to get involved.

This is by no means a scientific type survey but with seven saying OK and 61 saying No, it should be pretty clear where the NAM community stands on the issue.

There are some other thoughts being discussed such as; 1.) Moving the Race Section up in the order view and calling it something like MINI Racing, Auto Racing & MINI Builds. Perhaps even have more discussions on F1, NASCAR, INDY etc along with a Build competition where the members vote. 2.) IB owns over 130 other car forums, do we have a section where the links to those sites are provided? What is a VW GTI, click the forum link. What are the Corvette guys discussing in their Off Topic area, click another link. Into Harley's? Yes IB owns a forum for them, could be a click away. 3.) Are there some amateur car journalists that want to post some articles on their own cars or of their friends? There are some talented folks out there that can create some great videos and articles. If its a MINI, I for one enjoy reading about it or watching.

Sorry but discussions at the corvette forum are rather disgusting. Frequent personal attacks on other members, calling groups of people cavemen and inferior, advocating genocide. Is that what we're going for? I don't see why they would be the model for mature political discussion or what type of value their style would bring.

No. If I want that kind of discussion I have another forum i visit. It is a forum with strict moderation rules that are designed specifically for highly volatile subjects. It's a whole different world than a hobbyist forum like NAM.

I vote NO, and if it is added, I will not visit that forum or participate. And I may be less likely to visit NAM at all.

Any forum is only as good as those that visit AND post. The numbers crunchers say only 1% that visit a forum actually get involved and post. I have started telling the Newbies in 1st Gear that they have joined an enlightened group that recognize the MINI as a great handling car. I also say that I would rather have a question asked then to ask no question at all.

An average of 10 posts per year is not many, but it is far better than zero.

Wrong. I did go three years in between owning a MINI, and I will confess to not visiting as often during that time. But nonetheless, measuring VISITING NAM by the number of posts is not valid. I visit but rarely post.

To each his own.

I would add another "No" vote here. NAM is one of my politic-free zones online. Minis are relaxing, except when they're breaking down.
