I think it's quite unfair that ONE vendor is allowed to Host and Promote their Business on a Forum...

Don't You?

Being Bombarded by the constant Advertising for TIRE RACK is obnoxious.

Just a comment.

Kurtster Dec 14, 2003 10:21 AM

I think it's a paid advertisement, not preferential treatment. It says "sponsored".

If one of their competitors wanted equal time and paid NAM for it, I'm sure they would get it.

wheelman Dec 14, 2003 10:24 AM

Then they should have a TIRE RACK ONLY Thread...

It's unfair and chases other vendors and potential customers ( like myself) away

Driving_Hamster Dec 14, 2003 10:33 AM

If you are a purist then perhaps one can say that Tire Rack should not be the sole sponsor of a general tire forum. It was already noted that if a competitor wanted to also sponsor the forum I am sure it could be arranged.

You also need to look at the fact that Alex from Tire Rack goes out of his way to give MINI/Mini owners deals on tires and rims. He does not need to do this but does I am assuming because of the loyalty to his customers and to keep his business thriving.

I for one see no problem with Tire Rack sponsoring a forum and plan on purchasing tires from Alex in the next year of so.

wheelman Dec 14, 2003 10:37 AM

You still miss the point

It can, does, and will hinder any other vendor from approaching NAM as a sponsor.
The Principles have been flushed as has the validity of this site as a fair and evenly moderated forum.

antsmini Dec 14, 2003 10:45 AM

Who cares? Get a life.

MINIclo Dec 14, 2003 10:53 AM

What's wrong, "wheelman?" Having trouble finding sponsors for your own site?

I don't think it will hinder anyone. Look how may sponsors sell intake, exhaust, etc.

Also, tire rack's Alex has a LOT of knowledge and is very helpful.

This being said, I bought my tires and wheels from Discount Tire where I buy quite a few tires for my business. For one thing they got my wheels and tires, mounted one put it on and said, "Thoses the ones you want?" if not they would have taken it off and I would have found other wheels. Second they have an excellent warranty program and finally they are nation wide so if i have a problem they are not too far away.

Cha-Clinck!

Seriously, cry me a river wheelman.

Moorlockx Dec 14, 2003 11:21 AM

As stated earlier, if you want to pay sponsorship fees, I'm sure Mark would be more than willing to add you name to the "sponsored by" tagline. I would think the only reason the forum is sponsered by only the Tire Rack is that no other vendor has opted to do this.

If you do own a tire/wheel business, contact Mark. I'm sure he'll love adding your name as a sponsor.

This society in the United States Of America is based upon entreprenurial and competative priciples. TireRack has paid money to North American Motoring and also has a guy (Alex) who comes on here and answers our never ending and ever so repative questions.

There is nothing that I am aware of that is prohibiting any other tire company to purchase advertising on NAM and also get a person who's as helpful and responsive as Alex of the TireRack.com

Everywhere in America there's companies out there trying to out battle eachother. Coke vs. Pepsi. Ford vs. Chevy. B.K. vs. McD's. How do they try to compete? They try to out market the other guy and come up with with ways to give the customer a better buying experience.

wheelman, here's what I suggest. Purchase some advertising space from NAM. Put someone at your company in charge of checking these forums and responding to people's questions in a timely and curteous fashion. And there you go...the heartbeat of American...good ol' competion between businesses.

Sorry, but I just have to say:

There is absolutely nothing better on NAM/MCO than banned members coming back from the dead to post for a day or two until they're caught. I LIVE for threads like this. Keep 'em coming, boys!

I've gotten so that I can pick them out in less than 3 posts. And thanks to all of our observent moderators have been great at keeping damage to a minimum while we enjoy the show

Quite frankly, Tire Rack has a fantastic reputation for truly supporting the amateur motorsports enthusiast for wheels and tires and Alex does a fantastic job of representing his employerand he always responds promptly with great and accurate detailed data so we can decide what tire/wheel mods will best suit our needs.

Also, any other vendor is always welcome to post in the tire/wheel forum and I have never seen any friction between tire-rack and other vendors here, so I don't think it "unfair" whatsoever.

Lastly, my membership at NAM is absolutely FREE and the sponsors here make that possible by supporting one guy whose business is running this site. A small businessman has the right to choose sponsors that he feels best represent the values of the community here.

If a member of this site is also a sponsor I see no problem with them advertising there product or giving technical help to other members. Every sponsor pays to be here, both they and members has an equal say on the site. If you don't like a member or sponser don't respond to them or don't buy their product. Other than that get a life!

No

However, if you feel that way I suggest that you establish a web site to compete with NAM and run it the way that you like.
