Last August I drove my Mini from SF to SLC, but I took the freeways the whole time. It was a great drive (except for when I almost ran out of gas in the middle of the Nevada desert - but my wife was sleeping so she had no idea I was sweating it out watching the gas guage get down to 18 miles left to go when we finally got to a town. I learned my lesson).

 

I live northeast of Sacramento. What is your route between SF and SLC and what is your departure date from SF? Where do you plan to overnight on your route? My current plan is two days via US50, US6 and several Utah state highways with an overnight in Eureka, NV.
