**** I’ve seen those short shifters and they look crazy how much of a pain is it to install? Also what’s the degree of reduction for the throw?

 

It's not that hard. It sucks if you have a stock exhaust because you have to drop the whole thing to remove the heatshield and then remove the stock shifter assembly. BUT if you have a 2-piece sectional exhaust, you drop the mid section, remove the shield and it's easy from there. Nothing about the MINI install is complicated. I've done this install/uninstall 4 times now so it isn't too bad.

I don't know the reduction, it's not a short shifter. The reduction is hand movement from shifter to steering wheel when tracking. Engagement is bolt action and there is no "moosh" compared to stock or even a Craven ssk. There is absolutely no comparison.

 

I also don't know the reduction percentage, but from their site "The shift pattern is confined to approx. 65 x 65 mm." I can confirm this to be true, so measure your shift throw now and then compare, it is definitely reduced.
This is also in my top 3 favorite things I've changed in my mini, it might be #1 depending on the day, you feel this change EVERY time you drive.
