Many people do desire the slicktop and they're somewhat difficult to find because most folks were upsold to Premium Package #1 with the infernal panoramic glass roof which as you indicate can be prone to problems in more ways than one.

Since it's an '06, most likely it's a factory JCW --- if you had the VIN you could run it through a decoder and know for sure.

I got the original windowsticker with mine --- combo #6 JCW added $6,300 so total was $30,600,
it would have been $1,400 more if the combo #1 premium package was added.

That has the old Duell AG body kit that was popular back in the 2002-2006 era, that has a bunch of money and super rare parts in it. Duell AG which we carry now does not really carry any of those anyone. Cool that you posted up and found this. Yes its fast and furious because it was designed in Japan with those body kit.

Although I like the looks of many an extreme body kit, I'm a bit introverted and wouldn't really enjoy the extra attention.

I think without wing it was like 4k with carbon fiber, Wing was like another 800.00 non CF. Not painted or anything. The OEM MINI aero back in the day was around 1900.00 when first launched. Which is now NLA.

 

The good thing about the Detroit listed GP is that the guys at Detroit Tuned have had their hands on it. Can highly recommend the work that they do.
The bad thing about it is the those bloody awful red wheels. They would be the first things to go into the bin.

 

I'll give a wildass'd guess that it goes for $16,602.

BaT is now the go-to joint for collectible car online auctions, especially for special interest or eurocentric people --- but like any auction it all depends on the players and it only takes 2 to get into a bidding war and drive up the price.

The record sale price for a GP1 on BaT is $36,000 one year ago for a minty fresh example that had only 14 miles.

Yep. It's a Checkmate. I actually took this for a test drive a while back... like August 18. They are having trouble selling it I think. It drove ok but just needed the love $$$ all older MINI's do.

 

Yep, from the looks, the interior is a little rough and the headlight need to be done or replaced.

 

Ad says the R112 are not included as the car will be getting new tires on the original GP wheels!

I’ve been lurking on this site for the last few weeks trying to learn all about the R53s and I think I’m ready to take the plunge. What do you guys think of this? Is it a good deal? It’s being sold by a dealer so he doesn’t really know much about the history of the car except that it is completely stock.

I’m planning to take a closer look at it this weekend and want to know what would be a good negotiating price if the car checks out fine.
