Exclamation Eibach Front Sway Bar - installed but never used - 5705.310

Category: Suspension
Price: $175
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): R55, R56, R57, R58
Location (Region): NorthEast
Item Condition: Used

I was sent a R56 Eibach front sway bar when I had wanted one for my R53. It was more expensive to send it back than it was to try and sell it. There are a couple scratches on the paint from me trying to install it, but the bar has never actually been used. It comes with two brand new bushings that have only been installed in the brackets (has the grease on them). I live in NJ and can meet within an hour if it means saving money on shipping. Not sure exactly what it is to ship it, but it'll be expensive. I spent 225 on this including shipping.

This is the one I'm selling.

Struns,

The easiest way to swap it is to lower the subframe. Not entirely, but enough to access the two top bolts that hold the LCA to the subframe. Then it's just snaking out the old one and reinstalling the new one and putting the two bolts back on. Usually a good time to swap out the LCA's if they're the original ones.

Plan on 6-8 hours to drop the subframe. I changed out the LCA bushings on a previous MINI, and replace the sway bar bushings. I'm guessing that it wouldn't take any longer to swap out the FSB. I highly recommend the powerflex bushings if you're gonna change them.

Have fun,
Mike

The addition of a larger front sway bar is a fantastic improvement in handling when paired with the larger rear swaybar. It is better than just a rear sway bar by itself. I have been running with mine for 3 years now and love it. The car corners flat, like it is on rails. If you can manage the installation, do it!

Were there any issue fitting it to your R53?

I completely agree! I ended up having to buy a new front sway bar for my r53 and the turn-in is amazing. On long sweepers, the car stays planted and doesn't need little steering corrections like the old sway bar did. Definitely worth the time to install it.

Yes, I could not raise the subframe of the car because the exhaust hit the sway bar. On the R53 sway bars, there is a bend where the exhaust is so that there's enough room. This will not fit a R53 as I found out!
