Sign Up List for Kings Island
Important PKI info Update
All,
I talked to Maureen Kaiser at PKI today. She is the coordinator of Saturday's event. She sounds as excited to have us there as we are going.
Here are some logistical details for us....
Gates open at 8:30am.
Enter through South Entrance and follow signage to special parking area.
Proceed to main gate. There will be a check-in area for MINI owners. We will receive a badge (or something) to allow us into special events.
Breakfast is served from 8:45am - 9:45am at the Stunt Track
. It will be a continental style.
VIP seating for Paramount's School of Rock @ 12:45pm for 1/2 hour show.
Dinner will be at Picnic Grove.
11:00pm - 12:00am after park closes!!! Exclusive unlimited rides on Italian Job, Beast, and "Shake, Rattle and Roll"
She says over 350 tickets have been sold. That's a lot of MINI fans! That probably translates to 100+ MINI's! (my guess)
Last deal.... email Maureen Kaiser if you would like to display your MINI in the park on Saturday. All display areas will have police/security to watch over vehicles.
WAHOO!!! See you Friday AM for the caravan.
Eric... you should call Kirkwood and let them know about breakfast. They may want to take count the night before to see if anyone if eating at hotel.

Thanks Chris for calling PKI about this and getting this info. I had it on my "to do list" but I hadn't gotten to it yet (and not sure I would have before Friday) Yes, I was also going to contact the hotel to discuss the breakfast issue with them on Saturday morning. My wife and I have discussed it and we will probably eat something early at the hotel before going to the park. Don't know that I want to eat just before getting on the ride if you know what I mean.
Has anyone else thought about what they might do? We probably do need to give the Kirkwood a heads up about this and let them decide what they want to do.
Eric

Hi Guys,
I'm not planning on showing Oz.. I don't want him to get stuck there if Trainmama and I don't want to stay all day..
Just a little reminder. This is a long road trip..
(Really?)
Check your oil and other fluid levels!
Make sure your tyres are properly inflated!
Fill up with gas when we pick up the group in Tennessee.
Bring a cooler with drinks and snacks..
(I don't think we're planning on stopping for lunch)
Don't forget your radios (And extra batteries)
Don't forget any legal drugs you may need!
I have maps and significant mileage points printed out and ready to hand out to everyone.. They are pretty accurate, but during some last minute checking I noted a couple of errors in rest area locations (oops), so bring a pen and we can have a group "mark up" session. I also have a list of what's avaliable in terms of services and amenities at KY exits in case we need it.. Here's the link if anyone else wants it..
http://www.roadguides.com/i75/i75ky.htm
When we get to the other side of Lexington, KY, I'll be calling my sister in Cincinnati to check on road and traffic conditions there.
Also, my folks will also be travelling up to Cincinnati on Friday, so if you see a white Buick, wave!!

Thanks for the reminders Ed.
All good points. Just want to clarify 1 point. When we meet up with the Atlanta and Tenn. folks in Knoxville, we are planning on everyone grabbing a QUICK lunch (fast food) at that exit and either gobbling it down there or taking it with them to eat on the road. We are not planning on stopping to eat again so it's then or never. We will need to leave from there NO LATER THAN 1pm and earlier if possible.
I will be a "task master" on this trip,
trying to keep us on schedule. If anyone gets offended or put off by this, I apologize in advance. I'm really a nice guy (just take my word for it and don't ask any of our group members
). I know these trips are about fun and I intend to have as much of it as anyone but we gots to get there. A long road trip like this with this many cars requires everyone's cooperation and patience. It'a going to be a blast and I'm really looking forward to it.
Look forward to seeing everyone on Friday!!!!!!!!

but did see a woman in a blue MINI (a non-waver

I have a VERY important (short) meeting at work Friday morning before leaving. I am going to have to make myself some notes as I will have trouble concentrating.
We will be able to make PKI
I am bringing my heathen offspring to the event so they can show me how a 9 yr old and an 11 yr old have more energy than their geriatric parents. We live in Dayton so it is very close for us. I notice that Red Rage will be there also. I co-drove in the Car & Driver One Lap with him and it will be great to see him and his car, Red Fury again. His car is gorgeous and probably faster than the ride we are all going to experience. Look forward to seeing you all there and if you have any questions about the Dayton area, etc. , feel free to call me at 937.830.9081. AND BTW, Ohio is a POLICE STATE with more lasar radar checkers than Iowa has hogs, so be stealthy; run quiet, run deep.
