I have a 2007 r56 myself. The death rattle from the timing chain is actually covered under a recall by mini cooper themselves. I just got mine completely replaced for free by the dealership.

Is it the original battery in the car? Have it tested. If it is the original you probably need a new one as a failing battery can create all kinds of electronic gremlins.

Are there any other codes? Is there freeze frame data? Overvoltage is not good. It may be related to the alternator's voltage regulator
