Rear Brake Pad - Wear Area

I installed a set of Hawk HP Plus brake pads front/rear. Now on the rears, they don't seem to be covering the rotor as much as the factory pads. There's about an 1/8" wide space on the face of the rotor that doesn't show any wear. Could it be that the Hawk pads just aren't as wide as the stock pads?

I need to take them back out and compare them.

I guess that a positive way to look at it is that the car had corner entry oversteer (while braking) anyway, so less rear brake might help! :)

My HP+'s seem to cover the same amount of rotor as stock...humm....

Mine did that as well, until my 1st DE, after that I was using them hard enough to get the wear pattern all the way to the edge. My guess is that the HP+ pad compound doesn't compress as easily as the OE pads requiring more pressure to get them to fully contact the rotor

Sweet! Exactly what I was hoping for! I've got a 2-day autocross event (not quite the same as a DE) so hopefully they'll fully seat after that.

I've been using the emergency brake quite a bit with the hopes that they would seat. They're a little better, but not much.

Thanks!
