FYI 05's after 1/1/05 come with adj. rear camber!

Having read on another post that Randy said that some 05's are coming from the factory with adj. rear camber I called my MINI mechanic co-driver to ask him about it. He said as of 1/1/05 all MINI's have adjustable rear camber. The adj. is not in the control arm but is an eccentric bolt in a redesigned rear suspension knuckle.

I'm not sure what the range of adj. is but this may prevent anyone with an 05 from being able to put adj. control arms on and still be legal in STS or STX.

Ask him about front camber https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...s/NAMsmile.gif

If they added "crash bolts" I'll order my GS (and DS) Killer car tomarrow.

I just took delivery of a 2005 MCS.

Could you explain the legality issue? I want to run STX.

I do not have the 2005 Rules yet but the 2004 SCCA rules decribe under what conditions a car may be changed to make camber adjustabe. In the case of my Subaru, that has rear struts and no factory camber adjustment, there are several ways in which I can legally make my rear camber adjustable BUT I am only allowed to use one method, though they give me the choice of which one. So it's my thinking, maybe and HOPEFULLY wrong, that since the 1/1/05 MINI's comes with adj. rear camber that no additional means of adjustment may be added.

Interestingly the fronts struts on Subaru's have an adj. camber bolt but you can still put camber plates on them legally in STS and STX.

I would suggest that anyone with a MINI, made in 2005, that is interested in running STS or STX get a clarification on this rule before getting adjustable control arms. I suspect that for the vast majority of people the factory adj. range will work for most people's needs and in fact will save them $$$ if they decide to lower their cars but want to put the camber back to factory spec.

I have H-Sports on my 03 and love the looks, strength, ease and range of adjustment. I think all the aftermaket control arms are stronger than the factory units.

Anyone with an 02-04 and even pre 1/1/05 MINI can still legally use the adjustable arms in STS or STX.

Thanks. That helps explain it.

The first thing I need to do is jack the car up, take off a rear wheel and see what the heck my adjustment options really are with the "eccentric bolt." Depending, this might be enough for most of us anyway.

Cheers.
