Laguna Seca July 8-9 2011

Laguna Seca is next. Grand Am has not been here in a few years so we don't have a performance gauge on the cars.

Schedule: http://www.grand-am.com/assets/2011L...icialsched.pdf

The usual suspects:

195 VJ Mirzayan and Chris Sarian
196 Ron Farmer and Jason hart
197 Randy Smalley and Mark Congleton (returns after a long absence)
198 Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler

Tape delay broadcast on July 17, 1:00 PM ET, SPEED

I hope the coverage on SPEED for this race is better than the last one.....

There were some 8-9 cameras at various spots of the road course which was GREAT!. BUT.....the dumb arse camera director sitting in the trailer only allowed the viewers to see the first 3 leading cars at every corner taken for 99.9% of the race ??????

Someone needs to reach out to that moron director and remind him: " IT'S A ROAD COURSE !" there is action at every corner no matter where the cars are in the line up....stop focusing on just the 3 lead cars for every camera shot !!!!! It's was like Camera A-D-D for pete's sake.

Thank you. I feel better now.

this sounds interesting... do the MINIs actually have to slow down for the corner on top of the hill?

Just watched my first Grand-Am race this weekend on Speed (the Road America race) and I have to say it was fun to watch. I liked that we got to see quite a bit of the MINI thanks to Ken Schrader being in the car. I set up a season pass so I can catch the rest of the season.

Anyone going?

See you guys there!
Wish it was Saturday and Sunday not Friday and Saturday event, so I could have made the practice and qualifying.

What happened to Sara and Owen in qualifying? They dominated all other sessions and then fall to 20th?

Anyway, it should be an exciting move up the field for #198.

According to the grand-am site, one of the Minis spun into a sand trap in qualifying and suspended much of the session, so maybe it was the 198 or they just didnt get a good lap in before or after that.

thanks Dan.

198 is up to 11th on lap 10.

Could not agree more. They spend way too much time on the GS class. There are two classes on the track, they should get equal time.

^ not only that but when they do show ST, it might as well be the Kia, Mazda or Honda series.
