Waterpump Install 2011 MCS ALL4

For those that have installed a waterpump on a MCS All4, how difficult? Can't find any install videos or write-ups on the MCS All4. I've seen the write-ups for the R56's but wondering if the All4 has any unique problems/concerns. Thanks - Chas

Did you check newtis.info? It is about the same process, I believe.

Thanks MTB, based on my VIN at newtis.info looks even more straightforward than the 56's.

Procedure shows:
  • Remove Right Wheel Arch Cover
  • Remove Friction Wheel
  • Remove Water Pump Pulley
  • Remove Water Pump
  • Reassemble
Seems much easier than videos I have seen on youtube for R56's. Any tips?

Thanks again MTB - newtis.info has been bookmarked!

Sure, anytime my friend. The only thing that comes to mind is being able to reach the bolts. I think on my R56s, I would raise or drop the engine to reach them specially the friction wheel. I even used my fingers to back them out once I get them going with a shallow ratchet. I have one of those multi point low profile craftsman tool.

Do a dry run of what you want to do then execute.

I found this one for a 2015, and isn't that the last year of the r60? With my current inexperience I can't say for sure if it's the exact same engine, but I assumed so?

(search for "2015 Mini Cooper Countryman S All 4 water pump replacement" and it should come up)

Yep, I had found that video and it was useful, however all i removed was the passenger side wheel/tire and the fender well liner.
I released the pressure on the friction wheel and removed the water pump pulley.
I then removed the friction pulley assembly, only three bolts, followed by the water pump, five bolts.
Reinstalled reverse order. It was extremely tight but it can be done. Hardest part was reinstalling the friction pulley assembly bolts. I used a strong magnet attached to a screwdriver to get started. I purchased ratcheting box end wrenches from HF which helped out with the limited space.

Oh really, so no removing motor mounts and jacking up the engine? Nice, and good to know if I ever need to do it. Luckily it appears the small car lot I got mine from last week is going to take care of my water pump for me.
