Door is Open won't go off with door closed

Hello everyone,

On the rear passenger door, the light won't go off the dash and the interior lights don't go off even though the door is closed. I have searched and couldn't find anything useful. Just the usual take to dealer and try this and that with no real resolutions. From my reading, is the "switch" for the door in the latch? Anyone have any insight on most probable locations for this issue?
I assume the issue is probably the door latch so does anyone have any details to remove door panel and this part?
The interior lights don't go out and the car dings while driving. Super annoying. I did learn to hold and reset the light switch on the overhead console so hopefully that will save the battery until this can be resolved...
Appreciate the help please.

Thank you. I am looking into the door panel and latch removal. Does anyone know if the latch/lock has switch circuit that controls the lights and all? I assume that once I get the electrical connector off the latch/lock (assume it has a switch for the light) that I can test the rest of the circuit for proper light control and narrow down the latch/lock as the mechanical problem.

Anyone have any experience with fixing the switch inside the latch/lock? The door lock works just fine...

Update: I did research on how to get into the rear passenger door to check/test the latch/lock for the switch function as well as new part potential. However, when I went to start and warm up the vehicle this morning, there is now nothing wrong and it seems to have fixed itself?! No warning lights showing the door is open now and the interior lights function correctly and go off. Test drive shows no lights and no dinging showing the door is open (even though is closed). Nothing for me to do/check now... WTF? Root cause? Will see how long it fixes itself? I'm pretty over these dumb/crazy electric issues that plague this design/car...
