Bad fan switch?

Bad fan switch?
Wife's 2012 R60 engine overheats when A/C is NOT on and car not moving. When you turn the A/C on the fan comes on and the engine does not run hot.
Guessing it's a bad fan switch at the thermostat housing? No leaks visible anywhere, and no coolant on the ground.
I hate this damn car!

I went ahead and replaced the whole thermostat housing to the new style that comes with the new switch. No more problems with this particular issue. As with anything else on this car, it's not a fun fix. (And I'm a professional master auto tech!)
Bought a brand new Mahle thermostat housing p/n 11538674895 for $76.09. Also need an adapter harness (of course... another way to give them money!) That was a Behr part 12518611289 $39.01. There are cheaper parts for the adapter harness, but I wanted all new OEM factory parts without paying dealer prices. Total was $115.10 for both which is FAR less than what the dealer wants!
