Engine malfunction. Reduced power

So i was on the highway heading to work, and my engine just stopped responding and i got this message. Ran the diagnostic and recieved these codes. One of my buddies is saying its just the spark plugs but i believe its the fuel injectors. Anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks in advance

Well the plugs are a cheap and easy first step at least.

The weekly "engine malfunction" and 'reduced power' question. Do a site search. There are probably 25 - 30 threads already discussing this issue.

When I experienced this problem on my other N18 engine, it was the diverter valve...confirmed by dealer diagnosis scan...they wanted $500+ to replace...did it myself for the $85.00 cost of the part...

Unfortunately these things trip into limp-mode all too often, and there are any number of different things that will cause it to happen. The only thing to do is get the codes read by someone who can read the BMW specific codes and go from there.

Sorry I had trouble seeing the codes in th pic, but it looks like you have several misfire codes as well as fuel-cutoff activation. Cylinder #4 specifically in a couple. The fuel cut can be tripped by many things including too much boost psi, you also have some exhaust gas codes there too. You can try the plugs, like i said before, it is cheap. But I’m not sure that’s it. Clear them and see what comes back

Cannot see the codes... Post them in actual text, not a picture.

Hi! I had the same issue happen Sunday that left me stranded an hour from home. My car has 32,000 miles which is RIDICULOUS to have this issue come up. Anyhow it ended up being bad spark plugs and coils in cylinder 2 and 4 so MINI recommended changing all 4 spark plugs and coils. Did that and it seems to be back to normal. I got the Misfire error too and that’s what the issue was. Cost me about 200 for bosh spark plugs and bremi coils and put them in with my dad. Dealership wanted 720 to do it! Crazy... my bet is if you haven’t changed the spark plugs it’s most likely that.

You changed yours and it seems to have fixed it, that’s good.
As a note, Myself and many others have found (through experience) that as far as they are concerned, unless you are tuned and running a cooler plug like NGK 1422’s these cars are happiest with OEM plugs and coils Even with a tune I use OEM coils. I even picked up some spendy “hi-output” coils from a well known manufacturer and was in misfire city! Next time go with OEM plugs and coils. They will last longer probably as well. And you can cross reference the part numbers on Amazon and get them for a good price too

As a note, Mini has switched suppliers a few times, maybe those are OEM, I’m not sure, just making a suggestion. But mine had Beru plugs and Delphi coils from the factory
