North American Motoring - 2011 Countryman S (R60) No Lights, No Start, Electrical Issue

I just drove my 2011 Countryman S home about 20 miles in a very light rain. I pulled into the driveway, put on the e-brake, and removed the key. I noticed immediately that the front dome lights were not on when we opened the doors and the center dome light went out after a couple seconds. For a moment I thought I must have accidentally changed some setting but then I realized the car was completely dead when I couldn't get the trunk open and the key fob wasn't unlocking it. I then put the key in the ignition and saw that it had no effect. The car locks don't work, no lights come on at all. The only activity is that the light behind the hazard button and the light behind the ignition button are dimly illuminated and flickering. This is happening regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not. As far as I could determine, nothing could get the flickering to stop besides pulling the cable off the battery (which I have done to prevent the battery from going dead).

I have searched for a while and it seems like the only similar issues being reported were the result of a dead/faulty battery or a bad connection somewhere. The battery should be fine because it had given me no issues and it was just replaced about 12 months ago. I saw no obvious connection issues, but it's dark out and raining so I couldn't get a very good look.

Has anyone heard of this particular issue? Does it sound like a bad connection somewhere or is this symptomatic of something else that someone else has heard about?
