VANOS replacement issue

my 2012 justa MINI countryman went into limp mode with a p1062 code.
so I changed both VANOS solenoids.
I was extremely happy when the car started up fine and the CEL went off on its own.
Then restarted the car and it went back into limp mode but with no CEL on.
Am I missing something? Should I reset the computers?
Can I have missed the problem somehow?

Turns out the issue was with the timing sensor and actuator.
After changing those 2 parts my CEL went away for good and car is running great.
I also changed both VANOS solenoids and cam position sensors just to be thorough.

My CEL came back on once I forgot the code but the issue was with the engine not reaching high enough temperatures. Indicating a possible issue with the thermostat. However after restarting the CEL it has not came back in over a week.
So im brushing it off for now. Changing the thermostat is not simple in this engine.

I understand...just keep an eye on the fluids and keep notes of the coolant temps. you dont want it to overheat .
