Driver's Side window problem
Just got my car last week. I have all of 275 miles on it. Car was in my garage with the driver's side window down. I pull out of the garage and close the driver's side window, push up the window switch/lever, the window goes up an inch and stops. push the lever up again, it goes another inch, and stops. And so on. I had to push the lever up like 10 times to get the window to fully close. Then I tried to open the window, and the same thing. every tap of the lever, the window drops an inch. So to open or close the driver's side window, I have to tap the switch at least 10 times to get the window all the way up or down...
Anyone else having this problem?!? |
I would guess that you need to reset the windows, though I can't remember how to do that. I think you have to hold it in the up position for 5 or 10 seconds. The manual may say how to reset them.

when you say "taps" are you touching and letting go?
I mean if you hold the switch does it raise and lower normally? I know the auto up feature doesn't work with the door open but you can still hold the switch to raise the windows. |

Been there, done that. If the reset does not work, you need to: a. have it reprogrammed, or b. replace the window motor module. I had both done - if you can talk them into replacement to start with, I'd go that way. Also, when you get it back - check door locks and convience entry before you accept it. They forgot to plug mine back in. Three trips, three days to solve the problem.

Took my car in this morning. They attempted to re-program the system a few times and it didn't work. At this point they don't know what's wrong with it, and they are holding on to the car until tomorrow so they can communicate with MINI to figure out why this happened and what needs to be done to fix it.

Just an update, they ended up replacing the regulator/motor and everything is fine - for now..

Hmmmm...driver's power window motor problems were commonplace on the early first generation (2002-2003) hardtops too.

Today I got a gong and the window symbol with the Triangle ! in my display. It went away after a while. 300 miles.

I had my drivers side motor replaced, and now it's acting up again.. Wont always go up when I hit up, one touch seems to be fine, but even now the passenger window is acting up!! It hits the top and then goes back down a few inches...
Hi ho hi ho it's off to the dealer I go (again) Kyle |
mine is having these issues now as well...just wondering. Reprogramming and the other fixes. What are those costing?
