Faulty Thermostat Control Circuit

Hey Everyone.

My 2011 Countryman S All4 is throwing the Faulty Thermostat Control Circuit check engine code. So...should I just replace the entire thermostat or is there something else I should check. Also, it seems like replacing the thermostat isn't that tricky. Just drain the coolant, remove a bunch of hoses, replace the thermostat and put it all back together (basically speaking). Any good tips or how-to's for this one?

While you have got it apart you may as well replace the waterpump also. My 2011 just had both fail one after the other this past summer.

good to know. Well for now the check engine light went off. So the the thermostat must be "unstuck"...for now. I'll have to look into the water pump as well.
