2013 JCW Countryman Cuts Out at around 4K rpm
My 2013 JCW countryman has been cutting out when I try to get into it even a little. If I take it easy it is fine until around 4k rpm despite the gear. Reluctantly took it to dealer and they say it may be turbo waste gate but need to disassemble to diagnose and I wouldn't let them until doing my own research. I have 54k miles on the car and no upgrades yet other than cold air. Dealership seems pretty sure its the turbo but I'm less than trusting. The engine light is intermittent. What should I have done or what do I need to do different? Just don't trust the dealership..

Took my car to Little Shop of Motors for check of codes. Showed issues with #2 cylinder so replaced 4 plugs and one coil just in case. I realize some won't agree with that approach regardless but it was my choice. Car runs better than I remember. Its unfortunate that the dealership was going to take my money ($4980) to install a turbo when not necessary. Who knows they may have even thrown in that #2 plug. The mechanic also showed me markings on top of the coils that were most likely put there by the dealership during their diagnosis. I'm liking this mechanic so far but trust is a bit trampled at the moment. I know this is what dealerships do but no less easy to swallow. Am I missing something? Comments please.
