The only hitches I can find are 1 1/4.
My rack (1up) has a 2" hitch.
I went for the beefier one because I had a truck and liked the option to add another
2 trays/bikes to it (I didn't, it's still a 2 tray/2bike rack)

So is there a (proper) 2" hitch available?
The rack is pretty heavy, and it holds mountain bikes, so it must be a sturdy hitch.

 

M7 Tuning makes a rack that holds 150lbs and is 2". I had one until I lowered my car. Had a kuat Nv bike rack on mine with 2 road bikes and no issue. MTBs are heavier but think you should be fine. Check with M7 for their limits.

 

I have a 2" hitch on my cargo rack. I couldn't find a 2" receiver for my CM17 either. SO, I ordered the 1 1/4, it will arrive on Thursday. I also plan to order a 1 1/4 to 2" riser extension from amazon. I like the idea of lifting my rack up a little bit. I am going to order after I install and measure clearance, though, to make sure it does not hit the bumper. Tongue weight rating is 200#...more than enough for my rack.

 

I used to have a vehicle with a 1.25" hitch but had a 2" bike rack. I CAN NOT BELIEVE they even make this, but....

I felt fine using it for my bike rack. DO NOT EVER attempt to tow a trailer with this!!! yikes!!!! this adapter just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Purchased two tow hooks, some stainless 1'' electrical conduit and a Kuat Trio. A little welding and voila...

 

WHHHAAATTTT!!!! That is friggin awesome!!! You have links to the tow hooks you used and better picture of how you welded the 2 together? How long was the conduit you used? Looks about 2 feet? Also, how did you tighten, pipe wrench?

 

Ordered the hooks from Mini Mania. I used stainless 1 inch conduit and left the threaded ends. To add more bikes I'll just spin on another segment of conduit. It's on hand tight(firmly). Try to stick with stainless steel, you'll get a better weld with the hard steel of the hooks

 

I use a 2" hitch from M7 that I bought used through the NAM Classifieds forum. I have a 2011 Countryman S All4 and the rack uses the two bolt receivers in the bumper. I've used it a little under a year and it has worked great with my Kuat Beta 2 bike rack that carries 2 bikes.
