Newbie questions

In the midst of all these maintenance questions, I thought I would throw in a couple of newbie and shopping questions. Any pointers would help.

I bought a 2015 Countryman today. It is (loosely) replacing a 2002 Jeep Wrangler (which is going to be kitted out for off road rather than commuting). I got a good deal, especially given that it only has 18k miles on it. But in exchange I had to pass on a couple of small features I was interested in.

1) I wanted the raised/flat floor in the back but there were none available with that particular feature. Can that be retrofit into the vehicle? Is there a third party source for the floor? What would I search for in order to find it? Any links, pointers, etc would help enormously.
2) What type of cellphone holder are you using? How is it attached? Where does the cell phone sit and how easy is it to use it?
3) What do you wish you knew when you bought your Countryman that you know now? What should I know?

Thanks!

1. Pretty sure you can buy the parts to retrofit. Check realoem.com for part numbers and the vendors here that support this forum should be able to hook you up. Some people have posted DIY covers, which don't work the same way but are a lot less cash.

2. I don't drive the CM anymore, but if I did I'd go with something from Cravenspeed as they make quality stuff and the location of the phone with the mount is my preferred spot.

3. As much as I liked mine, I prefer the small 2 dr ht MINIs. It always seemed like after market mods and parts were not available for the CM as they are for 2 drs.

My little R52 bought a cell phone holder for my wife's R60 for Christmas and she loves it. (They share the garage and get along quite well.)

This my latest favorite. Small maganetic holder. Floveme is the brand. Attaches to quarter sized disc on your phone.

My husband informed me he didn't fit into the 2 dr hts. The 4 door were better, but I made the mistake of looking at the countryman and he made it crystal clear that it was FAR more comfortable than either of the others. Since I often cart around large dogs, it does make a certain amount of sense.
I can see, though, that the aftermarket is definitely smaller. My prior vehicle (a wrangler) had a MASSIVE aftermarket catalog so I am kind of spoiled. (It's being jacked up with bigger tires for TRUE off-roading....Trail Rated instead of Mall Rated...)

So another question - what is the purpose of SPORT mode and when is it best to use it? Will it kill my gas milage around down? Do I need to put the transmission into sport mode as well for it to be useful?

When you want to get your husband to shutup, and pin the dogs against the back door.

Sport mode will work either way when selected. Just in auto or when you want to shift with the paddles. You can feel it in the steering!

HI I just bought used 2011 Mini Countryman ( non turbo) Manual 6 speed , It has 51500 miles. What kind of problems i should expect in next 20000 miles?

Thanks you,
Hiranya

Gee... i haven't seen this question for at least a week now. I wouldn't "expect" any problems if you had the car checked out before you spent your $$. And if you did any research before you bought the car, you would know about the problems associated with the first year built Countryman.
