New owner, how can this be fixed?

Hello all,
I recently purchased an 11 R60 for my daughter, the car is running perfect and in great shape but the Nav screen is totally messed up, any idea how this can be fixed or will I need to purchase a new screen?

thanks in advance

I think it will be an expensive fix for the parts. Better off using the phone navigation anyway as MINI system is not as good as the phone.

check realoem.com for part numbers

I think I'd try a glass polish first. Or plexiglass if it's not glass. Anyway, if it makes it worse, no harm done if you replace it anyway. I couldn't stand to look at that every time I got in the car! You'll be surprised what a proper polishing could do!

I have the same thing, it’s not glass unfortunately. Mine isn’t as bad as that, but it definitely bugs the heck out of me. It looks like someone couldn’t figure out that it’s NOT a touch screen and just kept trying......a lot! I’ve been considering looking into it. There has to be one of those repair products out there that willl at the very least, make it better than it is now. Like they have those headlight restoration kits... something like that for an LCD air LED screen. I would try that before opting to replace it. If you find something that works, please post it here for the rest of us... I’ll do the same when/if I find something that fixes it.

I been told to try with a easy cleaner, lots of buffing but they say it gets fixed, heck it can be as bad as it is now...

I know on my E46 M3, the screen is easily scratched. Some ppl have buffed off the top layer coating & laid a clear film over the screen to mask the rest of the imperfections.

Worth a shot.

Looks like this company sells a film for a 2012 JCW navi screen. Not sure if its the same dimensions as the countryman though (you have to pick "BMW" in the drop down listing on their site)

cool hopefully they do for you guys! Worse case i'd prob see if the ones they do have avail are larger than the cutouts for the R60 (or if they can sell a sheet to you)...where you could possibly trim it down. I don't see that being too difficult to trace a paper outline then transfer that template to the film & cut.

My kid bought a different company car, but has 'light' scratches on the screen. He used that headlight polishers like those made by Meguiar's and it came right back. When he waxes his car he does that screen and said he's very happy with it.

On their website they do have the option to buy a square or rectangular piece that you can trim yourself. I didn’t check into a price yet though. I am going to wait and see if they reply to my inquiry, it would be nice to have it pre-cut, but not very difficult to do yourself at all, I wouldn’t think.

Thats the kind of answer I wanted to see! I will take a look at that. Thanks! That would probably work for mine. Mine isn’t even really scratched, it just looks like somebody thought that if they touched it enough, it would start responding or something, lol. I just picture someone like me sitting there and repeatedly poking at it over and over, saying “What’s going on? Why is this not working “ every time they drove it! Lol. Actually I can see myself doing it! Lol! But it looks like maybe just some of the anti-glare coating was rubbed off.
Ok.....maybe there’s a couple of scratches there

found this on a search too. I'd be confident that rubbing compound would remove that coating well.
