MINI Connected Screen vs Black Speedometer Only

What is the general consensus on the design of the center pod that just has the speedo or the pod with the screen?

Been looking at buying a 2015 CMS All4 and I’ve seen both conditions. Is the screen all that good vs just having the speedometer on the black background? I’m beginnibg to think the speedo design that works with the screen is not as good as the speedo alone!

Any opinions either way?

My previous MINI didn't have nav, so it had the speedometer w/the long needle. My current MINI has nav, so I now have the speedometer with only the indicator on the perimeter.

Frankly, I almost have never referred to the analog speedometer, as I keep my digital speed reading in the tachometer right in front my face. The only time I refer to the analog speedometer is when I'm low on fuel and the digital speed reading is replaced by the warning.

Searching outside your normal field of view in a 200 mm circle for a small red indicator is a less than ideal way to determine your speed.

I haven't used the non-screen speedo, but I can guess it's much easier with the center pivot reference to guide your eyes.

Exactly my thinking...it’s been a learning experience shopping for an R60 CMS, especially having an F56 JCW for my first MINI! We have purchased a 2015 CMS ALL4 with the full black speedo center pod & Im fine with not having the MINI Connected screen as my JCW doesn’t have the screen either as I didn’t want it ...of course an F56 is totally different with regard to instruments anyway. What I’m really happy about is having a dipstick and a CD player! LOL!
