Angry 2011 Mini Countryman Auto Trans Out Unsure How to Proceed

I have a 2011 Countryman S All4 with 85k miles. I have replaced the HPFP 4 or 5 times and the thermostat once. For about a week now the car has been slipping out of 4th gear (auto trans). I took it in to be looked at and it seems the transmission control module is causing the clutch to slip in 4th. They pulled a sample of trans fluid to see it's pitch black with clear indications of metal. I have a quote on replacing my trans with a used (56k miles) transmission at $4200 in parts. I'm trying to just sell this car and get it out of my life. The car is valued at $10k. What would be my best option? I purchased the car for $38k with 10 miles on it and it has every package equipped. I have maintained this car insanely well with an oil change every 7k miles and I'm quite frustrated. Does mini have a buyback program? Or am I SOL?

I replaced my transmission for 600. Although it was a FWD, the concept is the same.

few things do to do before replacing the tranny is to flush the ATF, replace the filter, and clean the magnets.

with the new ATF, make sure it is filled to the proper level.

thats my plan! im thinking basically remove sub frame, remove everything out of the way on top and axle, unbolt transmission, swap with used one with new filter and fluids. do you know if the All4 transmission is the same as the S?

I believe it's a different transmission. Check realoem.com to be 100% sure

Why are you replacing your transmission by the way? What other things you did to reach this option?
