ALL4 S Resale

We took delivery of our 2016 Countryman ALL4 S in November. The car has under 3,000 miles and we'll be selling it in a couple of months because we're moving out of the country. Sticker was close to $38K. Dealer offered $26K to re-purchase the car. What would be a reasonable selling price for a 2016 with < 5K miles?

I'd run it by CarMax to see what they would give you. 2016 is competing with the new ones on the lot, kind of depends on what kind of discounts the new ones are getting.

I'd also try some of the online pricing tools like CarGurus.com, Cars.com, TrueCar.com and KBB.com. You should be able to see what they are selling for both new and used and price yours accordingly.

Nice color combo! Too bad you have to sell it.

that's the "drove it off the lot" tax. Takes a while to offset that.

Last I had checked KBB didn't list 2016s. They do now. They say $30-$32K trade-in.

30% is more than "take it off the lot" tax. 20% depreciation would be the most I'd expect. The dealer just made sure I'm never doing business with them again.

@teachgearpro, you've got good taste

30% depreciation in 4 months isn't "drove it off the lot," it's "we're pretty sure you'll take this insane lowball because you have to sell fast, and then we'll make $6-8k selling it to the next guy".

2016 ALL4, 5,000mi, lots of options (like OP's), $32,000:

2016 ALl4, 4,400mi, lots of options, also $32,000:

The dealer could buy OP's car for $29-30,000 and still make more money from reselling it as a CPO MINI NEXT car than they made the first time they sold it.
