Orange accents - looking for ideas
My kids got me a set of orange mirror caps for my white/black R60. They look a little out of place for now, I think I need a few more orange accents to establish a theme.
I have black Mini bonnet stripes, and was thinking that a small orange stripe around those would look good. Would that be difficult to do myself? Where do I get the vinyl? What else could I do for a little more orange on the car? |
Todd from Todd's Mods did an event at Helix on Saturday and did one Clubbie with orange accents. They're a little hard to see in the pics (check the second one) but the car looked good in person.

Check your local Fast Signs, Sign-a-Roma types places in strip malls.( yellow pages ) They can cut you some pin stripes. Could do some orange wheel centers, beltline, ( might be too much but saw a white car with it in red and it looked pretty good ) cover scuttles, not sure if the R60 has regular scuttles to be able to do that.. Orange license plate frame.

Wow, thanks for the pics and ideas Helix and N2MINI!
I think orange stripes around my black stripes would look great, but they do have rounded corners that I'll have to bend around. Not sure if vinyl is that flexible. It's definitely worth a shot though. I'll check into wheel center caps . I was thinking the same thing about a beltline (and similar motifs, like fading checkers, etc.), but still worth consideration. |
i think the orange rayline stripes have been available for a while.
for a smaller touch you can get orange vinyl and do the inside of the "4" if you have an all4. i did mine red as one of the first things i did to my car and when i see someone's stock "4" ir just looks wrong to me. yeah.. it looks like they are.. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/x/q/435.png |

Schoof has one of the best looking Countrymans on the site. It is on page 118 in the Countryman picture thread.
Add orange pieces in the scuttle, paint the brake ducts orange, add an orange stripe in the area between your stripes (wide part and skinny part,) an orange and a black small stripe on the sides, and orange "rimblades" on the wheels. See pic: |

Orange
The mini stripe kit works best with the other mini orange accents. As far as different on white....I would black out all of the chrome including door handles...to make the Orange "pop" even more.....

Different color, different model but I ran into a similar problem with the orange mirrors looking out of place. Added orange pinstripes (3M orange pinstriping tape), scuttles, wheel centers, and painted the brake duct covers. I think the brake ducts make the biggest impact as far as bringing it all together.

+1 exterior mirror caps and interior mirror cap gives it balance in most cases.
