Joey Mod Advice

Anyone here have success Joey Modding their Countryman's headlights? I have the halogen lights in mine and attempted to do it this morning with no luck. Lights came off of the car very easily. I used a 200 degree preheated oven and baked for 7 minutes, but could not get the lens to separate from the rest of the light housing. I tried to bake them again (another 6 minutes), but no luck. I didn't want to pry too hard out of fear of cracking the lens. All I managed to do was chew up the plastic where it meets up with the lens. Eventually, I gave up (for now) until I get some better ideas. I read the forums for 2nd gen tips (which is what I followed), but the Countryman lights are a different shape and present a bit more of a challenge.

I'm currently working on a pair of halogens that I am retro fitting with HID projectors, It did take some muscle getting them separated but eventually they did. Just use several screw drivers to get it started and let the goo stretch a bit get your fingers in there and pull!

What type of HID projectors are you using? If you don't mind me asking. I can kick myself for not getting the Xenon!

Yes I agree with you, I miss xenon too. I had them on my R57 but this one I bought off the lot. I'm using these

OK, let's get back on track after being derailed. Still looking for any tips and/or suggestions about the Joey Mod. The first reply was great. Thanks!

One thing I can suggest is have a sharp knife or scissors close by, once you get it started you probably should cut the strudels of goo because its very easy to get it on the lens, and that sucks! Maybe buy yourself a pair off of e-bay they can be found pretty cheaply, save your good ones.
