Wheel Question

No response in the wheels/tires/brakes thread, so I figured I'd ask here. I have the opportunity to buy a set of 5 AD wheels for my 2012 Countryman. They're 19x8", with a +40mm offset and a 74.1 center bore. Beautiful wheels, and exactly what I was looking for. The bolt pattern is 5x120, so I know they'll work. My question is will the offset work? There's another set with a +35mm offset as well. Also, with a 74.1 center bore, will I need to use hub centric rings, or will I be OK without them? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Not really the best way to go with either of the above. The (hub bore) on the Countryman is 72.56. You would have to use centric rings, not the best way to go. Some people on here are running 35/40 offset, but that will set the tire outside the fender edge a little. I have 42 offset on mine and I'm not really satisfied with the top of the wheel being even with fender. This is just my opinion on what you ask about.

After reading many threads around here on wheel fitment (after I made the original post in this thread, and before I received any replies), I ended up pulling the trigger and picked up a set of 19x8" wheels with a +40mm offset. According to several threads I read, with an 8" wheel this is the most appropriate fit and will not stick out. Several members have wheels with a +42mm offset, so this is only 2mm more, which will be barely noticeable. I plan to run 225/40-19 tires on them, which is the standard JCW size. Brand/model of tire TBD. Naturally, there will be a need for hub centric rings, which, according to what I read, is not that big of a deal.
