DMTL pump location, Code 1447

My quick research on code 1447 leads me to believe that the DMTL pump needs to be replaced.

Has anyone done this repair?
Location of the pump?

Thanks in advance, Robert Patton

Oops, Should have posted in "problems and fixes" Anyhow, all help is appreciated.

Sounds like a breather/ventilation issue, check your lines. Have you tried resetting the light to see if the same codes reappear? Since your MINI is so new you should just take it back to the dealer.

Previously a reset would take and I could drive around for a day or two. Now the fault will not clear which tells me the pump don't pump.

No dealer help on this car. Long story, short version: it is a salvage title.

Ideas?

Like I said check the connections. If your gas cap seal is faulty or you have any fuel system pressure leak, this pump runs to maintain pressure in the system. Normally it is not supposed to run. When it runs it sets of the Check Engine light.

Bram, thank you for the diagram. I'll poke around by the fuel tank and see if I can find it .

Best regards, Robert Patton

Code 1447

Hi new to this but could use some help. My wife's 2011 r60 has a check engine light with loss of power under higher rpm loads. Code is 1447. I changed the fuel cap and dmtl pump with no improvements. Not sure where to go next and not ready to go to the dealer.

Thanks

Mine turned out to be the DMTL pump had failed. Easy fix on the 2012 R60 (it is located driver side, just in front of the rear wheel, under a plastic "skid plate."

Where is the DMTL pump located? I don't see it by the charcoal cannister.
I do see a tube going up to the top of the tank.. assume that's the vent line.
is it under the other cover on the other side of the car?

On my 2012 R60 justa, it is about 6” in front of the rear tire, left side (drivers side) and is under a plastic skid plate. Not hard to change. Bosch part on Amazon works great. Until you top off the gas next time you are at the pump and the excess fuel flows down and ruins it. Then yo7 get to do it all over again. Ask me how I know.

Hi Paul, which part did you replace to resolve the fuel leaking into the new LDP problem?

Thanks!

Frank

Frank, I’ve replaced the DMTL twice now, using the Bosch unit from Amazon. I’ve taken to not topping off even a bit when filling the tank. Not a drop. Seems to have resolved the issue.
