Tire Rotation Help

Never owned a car and the truck I had sported Pro Comp tires that I couldn't even thing about rotating.

I am capable of rotating the Mini's tires so now I need help on how it's done.

Below is a picture of the left front with almost 10K miles on it. Do I cross the rears and move the fronts straight back or what?

Thanks

Take a close look at the patterns on the tires. If they have arrow like designs pointing one way, you have directional tires which cannot be reversed which would happern if you crossed them. If so, all you need do is swap them front to back.

Thanks for the Michelin link, very interesting.

I'd always just performed the front-to-back, "unidirectional tire" swap. Easy on a MINI since the whole side goes up when you use a floor jack on a side jacking point.

Swab out the wheel wells while I'm at it...and clean the back side of the rims, too, doesn't take long.

I only do front-back rotation without crossing regardless of the tire symmetry. I think it best to have all rotation in one direction for the life of the tire. You also just need to jack one side and make the switch.

I have had good luck with this method for too many years to mention...

So, Thanks to you guys, I've now learned that I have Unidirectional Tires. So, in a few weeks, I'll be swapping front to back. I will be putting the car on 4 jack stands so I can paint the wheels and the brake calipers and swap 'em. I'm also going to paint the brake air ducts.

Thanks for the info.
