Sunroof screen alternatives
Hi all! I'm brand new to this forum and to Mini, so please forgive whatever blunders I inevitably will make. (And I have tried the search function ). I just came home with a 2012 Countryman (a Justa), which I love. It has the sunroof, and being a bald guy in North Carolina, I have to say that even the sunroof shades don't offer all the shielding I want. It looks like the Zippeeshades are unavailable at this time (though I could be wrong). What are other choices? Other products? Additional tinting? Duct tape? I can certainly live with it, but I'd like a little more shade. What have some of y'all done for this?
Thanks so much!
David

I have the Zippee shades which i used on my '10 MCS and now it's working on my '12 Countryman. It blocks all of the light and kept the car cooler here in SW IN when we were running 105F this summer. I like it because I can remove it in the winter and get more sunlight and enjoy those starry nights..The only problem is the suction cups don't hold forever and you will need to push them up to reattach every few days. They are not designed for you to open the sunroof so remove them when doing that but you can crack the sunroof with them on if thery are indeed stuck to the glass.
Also when they are new they stick very well so to remove don't just pull on the removal ring but slip your hand up under the shade and release the edge od the suction cup with your finger nail to avoid tearing the cup apart or from the shade...

My R53 had a sunroof, and I had 5% limo tint combined with a zippee shade. I'd occasionally drive at freeway speeds with the sunroof open and never had a problem with the zippee shade coming loose. I also saw threads about it cracking with tint, but never had any problems there, either, including 2 summers in Albuquerque.
