Mud flaps or no mud flaps?

I'm looking into purchasing a Countryman S. I was wondering what everyone opinions where about whether to get mud flaps or not. Any advice will help.

Thanks,
Tina

Flaps are a must!

I bought the car without them, but quickly went to the dealer and bought them. Installation is pretty simple, and they definitely do reduce the amount of debris hitting the sides of the car. I think flaps finish the look of the car, especially on the rear.

Depends on where you live but here in Colorado mud flaps are a "must have". Otherwise you'll constantly have dirt and rocks thrown up in the sides of the vehicle. Usually leads to scratches and or chipped paint.

Don't pay for your dealer to install the mud flaps. They just attach with self tapping screws and are very easy to install. Your dealer will probably want $100 or $150 to install while the actual mud flaps are less than $40.00

I think the CM is a vehicle where the mud flaps look great. Some SUVs they look out of place. Good rock protection too.

The trim is as-purchased. The flaps are a great fit, and match the trim color perfectly.

YEP...mudflaps are a must. I saw a noticeable change in how much less road dirt accumulated on the rear hatch and bumper after I had flaps installed.

Are the install instructions on this site somewhere? If they could be linked here it would be appreciated.

Is there anywhere that I can order the mud flaps online? I am working the night shift so heading to the local dealer isn't very easy for me.

My first visit to the service center was to get mudflaps installed. They had called the day before my appointment to confirm they were ready to install. I get there, check in, leave the car for 1 hour (they said it would only be 45 min). Well, upon return, was told they'd botched up...and never actually had the flaps in house so they couldn't do the install.

Kinda miffed...ya, mistakes happen, but they called to confirm beforehand.

Have not returned to have another go yet....

Yes, I plan on adding Mud Flaps and a Clear Bra. We put a Clear Bra on my wife's Lexus about a month after we got it. In that month we had about 3 pretty good chips on the front. After getting the bra we haven't had any more problems with chips and it's held up great for 5 years. So, one's going on the MINI as soon as I get it. I'll install the mud flaps myself.

Do the entire hood. The templates that are available don't give that much protection, I think only 12" or so.

I had read on here about some folks doing the entire hood...I don't know, I'm not overly aggravated by a chip here and there but the front end gets pretty rough looking after a few years...which is what I'm wanting to avoid.

I'm going to have to think about the whole hood. I would have to see one done first.

I would think that full hood would look better seeing that you don't have any lines........ the only downside is the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I would go full hood if I was you. I saw a 2010 MCS the other day it had 8,000 miles and it had a million stone chips!!!
