ARRRGGGHHH! Interior Rattles

Started noticing a fairly persistent rattle coming from the passenger side. Kept checking windows, sunroof, you name it. Was planning on an unpleasant "session" with my dealer, really dreading the thought of it. (Not that the dealer is bad, just that rattles are such a PIA to diagnose and/or repair.)

Well, good thing I was a little slow to head to the dealership! I'm riding around with a friend, and he notices the sound, too. He simply reaches into the passenger cupholder and pulls out some change! "I forgot I had put this here!" he says. We had gone through a Starbucks drive-thru the other day, and apparently he had simply dumped the change in the cupholder.

It was the friggin' change making the noise! Take the change out of the cupholder - RATTLE FIXED!

I feel like such a dufus!

Also watch the seat belt buckle position, sometimes it taps on the pillar. Pain in the back side.

Good catch on the change.

Ha! You really scared me at first. I'm picking up my Countryman today, and the last thing I need is to trade a 9 year old car with age-induced rattles for a brand new car that rattles for no good reason.

Good to know it was the classic "hidden change" rattle.

Had that problem with a water bottle once. I could not figure out where the rattle was coming from. When I found out it was the bottle I smashed it. It now lives at the recycling center and will be turned in to something that doesn't rattle.

I have gotten hit with the seat belt buckle - similar situation. All set to have it out at the dealership, and realize it was just the seat belt banging against that side pillar!

I totally had this problem - the rear passenger seat belt buckle would rattle against the side of the car. cinched it up higher, now no rattle.
