R59 Intermittent A/C: fan, resistor, or ???

Intermittent A/C: fan, resistor, or ???
A/C blows cold for a while, then stops unexpectedly. May stay off short or long time. Longest running use before failure is two days.
Have replaced thermostat (trouble code) as advised by dealer. Also replaced cooling fan. System evacuated and recharged recently, shows full charge and appropriate pressures when it's running.
Haven't officially found A/C relay under hood, only fan icon. Is there another A/C relay and, if so, where do I find it? I want to confirm whether the A/C clutch coil is within normal resistance range.
If there's a cooling fan controller resistor, I'd love to know its location, too.
Thanks for helping!

I would scan it with the schwaben tool to see the fault first. Might be a flap shutting down or something else.

From what I've heard on AC in general is that sometime the compressor clutch gets worn out and the compressor doesn't engaged anymore which result in no AC. It's ones of those slow aging things that makes it work at times and not other. I have similar issu on an other car but haven't had the chance to take appart the compressor pulley to check things out.

I don't know how similar it is on a mini...

Thanks! I've heard that's a known issue. The air blows really cold when it's working, so I don't want to spend a small fortune on the whole system. When an independent mechanic found wiring issues that the dealer missed, we thought the issue was resolved, but you may be exactly right. It's hard to catch it not working to test voltages at the A/C coil/clutch, which is pretty inexpensive and not impossible to replace DIY. Here's a video I found: it's for an older model, but looks almost identical. This is a base engine, so no turbo plumbing to deal with.
