How long have you had your car?

I got mine five years ago this weekend. Can't imagine being without it now.

Never noticed you had stretched tires...

Here, we're going on our 4th year this coming August.
Despite some of its flaws and quirkiness, we'd have a very hard time replacing it with something else with what's offered out there today!

It's the winter set. They're not supposed to be "stretched", I think that's a crazy thing to do deliberately personally. They're 7.5" rims (190.5 mm wide by my reckoning) with 205/45/17 Blizzaks. I guess the Blizzaks must run very narrow, as by my numbers 205 >> 190?

TG. 04-03-2017 05:27 PM

Yeah, 205 on 7.5" is working on the low end. 215 is a more comfortable fit. I haven't looked at the wheel size ratio so I'm not sure how a 215x45 would change things, or if you'd have to go to 215x40, or if it's ideal in the middle... 205 IS within the range of 7.5" rims. It's just on the low end of tire fitment which has a side effect of not leaving a lot of rim protection. These Blizzak do look like they run small at the contact surface area. It's not a bad thing for snow tires to be narrower.

To give you an idea. I run 205x45 on the MINI 17x7 and they sit pretty flush.

These are my 205/40/18 summers on 7" rims. They're pretty flush too.

The OEM JCW's I took off with 205/45/17 on OEM rims (7") are about the same I think:

I've had mine for about a month. Had my Hardtop for 9 years before getting the roadster.

PAWS 04-05-2017 10:33 AM

12 years for my 05 MINI S w/ LSD, no sunroof, dealer installed JCW... @ 80k miles has transformed a bit, with H&R RSS Clubsport Coilovers, adjustable front and rear camber, 15x7 BBS forged (10.2 lbs), all new mounts, Cobra seat, 6 point Harness, roll bar, Miltek header, etc etc... but is still driven on the street a couple times a week.. love it!

MiniRoadstah 04-05-2017 09:40 PM

Went to look at the Roadster on 1 November 2015, not expecting much and ended up making a ridiculous deal on a car that had been originally purchased new at the end of May 2015 and traded in by early September 2015. It had barely 4k miles on it and was like new except for a few small scuffs on a couple of wheel edges and a slight rub mark on the corner of the driver's side rubber spoiler. Picked it up early evening on the 3rd of November and drove it home. Most fun purchase ever. Picture taken on 4th of November 2015 after a short smile infected, top down morning drive around the hills and lakes where we live.

So doing the math, we've had this car a year, 5 months and 3 days here at home.

We'll be picking her up next week. :D

Like it! Great color and Wheels! Congrats!

Been out of the MINI game for a few years. Just yesterday I jumped back in. Found a 2013 Roadster JCW 6 speed with only 8,500 miles and just had to have it. Now I just need to change my forum name and signature and post some pics!

Welcome back! Good choice of car, and low mileage too.

Thank you Spiney.

Just hit four years last week. Officially out of warranty.

MiniTigger 06-08-2017 06:46 PM

One year. :)

trouble1943 06-08-2017 07:15 PM

2016 MCS acquired last July 31st

Bish 06-08-2017 09:16 PM

Ten days :)
... and looking forward to many more.

I had to get the insurance photos done today... there was a place three miles down the road, and another twenty-five miles away. No prizes for guessing which one I went to ;)

 . . . plan to keep it for a while?

Our 4 years is approaching this August

St_G 06-11-2017 07:00 AM

Yeah. It's a symphony of creaks and rattles, but it's been mechanically sound and there haven't been any new roadsters (save the Porsche Boxster, but a) $$$ and b) then I'd be someone who drives a Porsche) that have tempted me.

Depending on the marketplace in a couple of years, I may just demote the R59 to weekend/nice day duty and pick up a hot hatch as a daily driver. The GTI should be nearing a generational change, I think.

Fast car dream aside, I found that I'm not as interested about a real sport roadster as I am about a roadster that allows us to travel. So there aren't much options at all in that camp, and thus we intent to keep ours for the long haul

So far we have a few creaks and rattles, but it's not terrible yet, after almost 4 years of ownership.

DneprDave 06-12-2017 03:20 PM

Seven years, it still seems new to me.

St_G 06-13-2017 10:01 AM

That's fair. I haven't paid close attention to the ND Miata's trunk size (or that of its Fiat cousin) but historically, they've not been generous with space back there. The ND *is* a looker, though. There's a white one that parks near me at work and I don't mind admitting that it's prettier than my car. They're just a bit too ubiquitous for my tastes.

Now THAT'S a rare R59 Roadster! The elusive 2010 model!

no ... it ain't black ..... grey .... and I've removed the stripes

EDIT: as of 6/30/2017 Photobucket is charging $400 a year to allow photos stored there to be used on other web sites (imbedded). They now call this 3rd party hosting.

bye bye photobucket and my regrets to those who liked my (many) pictures
