Should help you decide if you want to eliminate this insert, as others have done.

+1...I'd be interested to know that as well....currently in our 2nd Miata and with the 2016 new MX-5 in the wings, knowing decision timeframe for a "last edition" MINI Roadster would be beneficial....

It better be light with only 158 to 167HP.
I'm not a fan though. Nothing very inspiring here for me. I don't dislike the Miata but it's not really the kind of car I'd be looking for. It's a nice little car with probably a lot of spirited driving built in it but I'm not particularly interested in the Miata. I do hope they have fixed the passenger lack of space though. Just too cramped in the currently selling model...
These are better pics :D

Just ordered my Roadster :-), My MA says word he is getting is that only 400 more Roadsters will be made, then the line will shut down.
123 dealerships, each one orders 3-4, do the math! Basically, no idea if the line will ever reopen, but if you want a Roadster, might want to get your order in!

But as it stands we are very much looking at the 2016 Miata as the engine to be used is pretty much bullet proof and we don't know what the final engine specs will be and whether it will be offered with a turbo.

Congrats on the move to the JCW!
We traded our S Roadster for a JCW in December.
Still in the break-in period, but already love it even more than our first one. Funnily enough, we went *to* Pepper White.
When we ordered ours, the dealer had only two Roadster slots in the quarter, an no Coupe slots. We definitely felt like it was one of the last chances for a new Roadster.

Could this be just temporary until after MINI releases the new Convertible based on the F56 chassis? I see quite a few Mini Coupes and Roadsters on the road on a regular basis so I did not see this coming at all.
And for what it's worth, I like the Roadster crowd the best. All other MINI owners ignore my waves and thumbs up, but Roadster owners usually wave back at me. Enthusiastic crowd.

Unfortunately I think it has more to do with corporate strategy than a transitional process
As far as the waves, that would be expected... there are far more roof top MINIs on the road. It is normal to assume a good majority of them are just regular folks buying a car they like and don't have the extra interest for "enthusiasm"

I can't speak to the decision not to replace them with an F5X based car, but the reason to stop making Roadsters and Coupes in their present form is easy. There are two body lines at the MINI plant, one making the new cars (F56/F55 five door/F54 new Clubman) and one making the old cars (R57 convertible, R58 Coupe and R59 Roadster). Once the R57 convertible goes away and becomes F5X based production will move to the other line. This leaves only R58/R59 consuming an entire line and half the body shop, which is uneconomical. When they close this line down it will get refurbished and repurposed.

That's actually the most sound explanation I've ever heard.
So there's an actual plan for an F5x convertible coming soon(ish)?
answering my own question:
I can see that there is: http://www.bmwpassion.com/forum/show...ini-Cabrio-F57
Interior dash board aside, sadly it's nothing looking as interesting as the current roadster imo.

true or not this makes me happy even if I truly hope it won't loose too much trunk space :p

I'm not interested in a battery powered electric vehicle. Range is never enough and the supposed benefit to the environment is largely illusion once you factor in construction, batteries in a landfill, and the coal used to make the electricity.
Now a fuel cell car might be interesting, electric motors powered by a fuel cell. But then hydrogen stations would need to be built.
No, it looks like my next roadster will be the BMW Z2.
Edit:
After posting this I remembered that for some the topic of battery powered vehicles is almost religious, at least judging by some of my coworkers who drive Teslas. Not trying to start a debate, they are just not for me.

Let me try a different angle
If they do end the Roadster is it to make room for this?
MINI Reportedly Only Months Away from Approving Superleggera Roadster

According to the linked article, MINI may have not confirmed that it's electric. A MINI looking like that and sharing the same Gen3 platform as the Z2? Yes please.

This little guy deserves applause
I raise my glass to a short run but fantastic MINI that deserves its spot in history of cars. I will miss not being able to imagine what my next built to order would have been.
I know we will keep ours for the long run if all goes well with it. We are already quite attached to it and could see becoming a keeper.
