just starting to mod my r59 please help

Hello fellow roadsters. I wanted to say Hi and also have a few questions for you guys.
I want to start modding my roadster s and was thinking of starting with the NM air charge pipe and the NM discharge pipe. Then also getting the Forge alloy intercooler. Possibly the NM oil catch can too.
Do you guys think is a good starting point or should i start in another direction?

Thank you everyone and thank you for your replies.

You should add to your list the NM engine torque arm insert. And if you have an N18 the BMS JB+ is one of the best mods.

If your Roadster is a MCS you have a N18 motor. You would need to have a 2012 JCW to not have one. The torque arm insert stops your engine from moving around. Helps with shifting and will give a better feel, also it's cheap. The BMS JB+ is a tune that plugs into your MAF and tricks your engine into having more boost, HP, and torque

If you have a manual, I would recommend the BMS clutch stop. It's $10 and a great improvement from the stock clutch "play".

MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_flow_sensor). Measures the amount of air going into the engine so the computer can calculate how much fuel to inject.

The JB+ connects in-line in the wiring between this sensor and the computer.

Like jkapinos said the NM torque arm bushing is the perfect first mod.
http://www.waymotorworks.com/nm-engi...nt-insert.html

After that it will depend on your goals. Please feel free to give us a call and we'll work with you on putting together parts to fit what you want.

For power a Forge intercooler is a perfect start that won't void your warranty.

But for handling an Hsport Comp rear sway bar is the best bang for the buck.

Thanks way motor works. So I was looking at my list of parts i want. I will get the torque arm insert and short throw clutch stop. Now, should I go with the NM oil catch or the x brace with those two?

The x brace will lessen ground clearance. Do you plan on lowering your Roadster? Also the Roadster is already pretty stiff, with the stock bracing. Most think a catch can on the N18 is not needed. I have one but have not installed it.

thanks jkapinos. I am going to keep it at stock height. So then probably x brace 1st then oil catch can. what do you think of the AEM cai? they supposedly are making for the n18 enigne.

AEM makes very good products. My other car is a EVO X and many people with that car run them and are happy.

So your saying a '12 jcw roadster has the N14 motor?

Thanks

Yes the 2012 JCW has a N14 motor. Check out Bluetoys post under R59 and see what he has done to his car. It should be helpful and it's a N14.

I'm looking at mods as well, and so far the engine brace and an upgraded intercooler look like good mods. Do aftermarket intake and exhaust systems do much on an N18 engine? I have an automatic, BTW.

I have the Hsport hollow sway bar on my R53. Great mod. :D

Save your money as intakes and exh just don't make power as they are more for sound.
If you want power do the intercooler first, and then we can do a tune for you as those will be the best bang for the buck mods for you.

Hi, I also own R59s, and as recommended by many others from here, I have JB+ and NM Torque arm insert on my car.

Dude, with NM TAI, your car will be totally different one when you put it on sport mod, and try to accelerate when you are stopped. It shoots out without any hesitation.

Here is a video I uploaded on youtube for idling engine. You may not see the big difference from the video, but for sure it's worth of money.

Will all facelift intercoolers fit a 2011/2 n14 jcw roadster
Seems a lot are sold as pre or upto 2010 (assuming general N18 upgrade)
I'm keeping my eye out for a second hand one and have already missed out on a forge and evolve, if I miss out by mid summer I might end up with something Unbranded from China

I'm looking to buy cheap in this area and support with a aquamist hfs4,
My rationale being this will give a better bang for buck than a top level intercooler and perhaps no budget left even for a Point and squirt kit

There's a bit different (extra) structure behind the front bumper on the facelift/LCI cars (which all Roadsters are) and I'm not sure if intercoolers for pre-facelift cars will clear it all. I'm sure someone can help. You can also ask this on the R56 forum or a general second gen one, all the R55/6/7/8/9 cars are the same in this area.
