Picking up the new Roadster tonight! What to go over with the dealer?

Hi All,

We are picking up the new Roadster tonight (hopefully after a week delay) and I'm wondering what to go over with the dealer. This is what I have so far:

  • Check Bumper (Long story... They drilled it after repeatedly asking them not to so it spent several days in the body shop.)
  • Check Tool Kit (I saw the sales guy messing with it)
  • Get the Bluetooth set up
  • Operate the top (we opted for the semi-automatic)
  • Check all lights (We got the additional driving lights installed)
  • Break-in? Sport button usage?
  • Manual in car?
  • original window sticker
  • Hood insulation? What to do?
  • Check fluids - oil, window wash, etc. Good to know where everything is.
Anything else?

Thanks!

Franny

Ask them which direction to turn when you leave the parking lot to get to the twisty roads... :-)

Yup! That would be West... I think we have some of the best roads here and they are really close by. Looking forward to it!

Looks like it will be tomorrow now... They are going to install the infamous heat shield to keep the bonnet from boiling

I'll post photos when we actually drive it off the lot.

Just have the sales man take your picture so you can post it here

Brilliant!

Make sure if you ordered/listed on window sticker items such as wind deflector, etc.. they are delivered as well. Congrats.

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing your new family edition. I know it must be killing you to wait another day. We were "teased" with truck delivery that ended up being 5 days late. It was a painful wait. I will have to do further research on the heat shield issues that I have seen mentioned around the board.

it might seem silly but if this is your first mini have them explain the windshield wipers.
my car has the automatic wipers and i had no idea how to work them the first time it rained. felt silly breaking out the book so i could drive home.

Agree, If this is not your first MINI, ask MA to concentrate on what's changed. (My MA was pretty good at highlighting the differences.) If it's your first, ask for a complete tutorial.

Congratulations. One thing I didn't do on my delivery acceptance inspection was to put the MINI in a well lighted area and sight down the sheet metal of the entire vehicle for small dents caused by the delivery When I got it home I noticed a small dimple on the bonnet that could only be detected in a well lit area.

Thanks Everyone,

I'm writing all this down. We had an '07 Cooper S so a lot will be familiar... Our sales guy is a bit lost so I think we'll have to dig a bit and I don't mind reading the manual...

Oh, and we'll have time... Lots of time. We have to now wait for a month to get the clear bra installed before we can drive almost anywhere here in Colorado. When we went to pick up the car last Thurs, they had screwed a license plate holder into the bumper after many calls and reminders not to. It wasn't a pleasant evening... So, the car went to the body shop to be filled and painted. We have not even officially taken delivery or even driven the car yet. I have been reading that 30 days is the absolute minimum to let paint set before adding a bra. We will be missing a great local Mini club ride this weekend we planned on attending in the new car. Sucks. And, this is the second time the dealer has done this to a Roadster! It happened to a very cool car a club member picked up a couple months ago. Arg!

Anyway, I'm hoping tonight will go a little smoother, but I don't want to leave there without a very through inspection. Once it leaves the lot... Normally I'm not this crazy, but I feel I have to watch a bit more closely.

Thanks again for all your suggestions! (and letting me vent)

Franny
